Mac Windows dual boot Tilde key and Function key

I have installed Windows OS on my Mac using Bootcamp and I had two inconveniences with my keyboard. Please read through what they are and how  I resolved them.

1) The tilde(|~) doesn't work. To fix this go to control panel and install the following keyboard

United States International(Apple) Keyboard. Please note that it has to be Apple International.

This should get your Tilde working.  If you are a SAP Developer, breathe easy so you can now start writing SQL statements with Joins by using the ~ .

2) I want to use the Function Keys by themselves instead of using FN key.

Here is the link I followed and instructions from the link just in case the link goes dead.

If you are using Bootcamp to load Windows on Mac, you might have felt a need to change the Function

Use function keys on a Mac keyboard

By default in Windows, pressing function keys on a portable Mac and some other Apple keyboards controls hardware features. Boot Camp supports the volume, brightness, keyboard illumination, and media keys.
To control app features, you press a function key and the Fn key. For example, if you open iTunes and press Fn-F1, iTunes Help opens.
In the Boot Camp Control Panel, you can change the default behavior, so that pressing a function key controls app features, and pressing a function key and the Fn key controls hardware features.
  1. Click the show hidden icons arrow in the right side of the taskbar, click the Boot Camp icon , then choose Boot Camp Control Panel.
  2. If a User Account Control dialog appears, click Yes.
  3. Click Keyboard.
  4. Select or deselect “Use all F1, F2 etc. keys as standard function keys.”
